WEST HAM v TOTTENHAM – ENGLAND PREMIER LEAGUE
March 2 2016, Boleyn Ground, 19:45 GMT+0
This will be an interesting match, due to rivalry between these two London teams. Of course there is no greater joy than beating your rivals, so we can expect very physical match. If we take a look at the last 2 matches between these two teams on Boleyn Ground, we can see red cards were not “a stranger”, as there were 3 red card shown in those 2 matches.
The home side, or the”Hammers” lost the last H2H match against Tottenham (4:1), and a match before that had the same outcome (0:1) for the Spurs. But we need to mention, the hosts missed a penalty in 30′, and it surely would change the course of that match if it was converted into a goal. Also the winning goal for the visitors came really late, in 90’+3.
Looking at current form of West Ham, we can see they perform great, winning 8 games out of last 13 (8-3-2). The latest win was against Sunderland (1:0), that means the hosts have a home record of 4-1-0 in last 5. Currently the Slaven Bilic’s squad is 6th in the league, 11 points behind today’s opponents. The goal of finishing in top 5 and getting European competition spot is a priority and of they can beat their rivals on the way to that goal, that is even better.
As for missing players, Bryam, Valencia, Reid, Tomkins and Jenkinson are all missing the match, whereas it is believed Sakho might join his team tonight.
Tottenham is having a great season this year, as they can compete for the league title. Coming from a win against Swansea means the Mauricio Pochettino’s side is on 6 league win streak. With Leicester only managed to draw against West Brom, a win today means Tottenham will take the 1st spot in the league table.
Even though Tottenham seems good on the paper, the did not impress me at the weekend, and with pressure put on them due to a possibility of being league champions, it might just be too much for them to handle.
Dembele, Vertonghen and N’Jie are all missing this match, there are also concerns about participation of Dele Ali.
I believe the “Hammers” can hold this game and get out with at least a point.
Prediction: West Ham +0.5
Odds: 1.88 Pinnacle
