ViCi v Fnatic - IEM Katowice 2019

ViCi are the lowest ranked seed fort he Main Qualifier and arguably the weakest team in this tournament. Their current roster was formed in the summer of 2018 when Flash Gaming terminated VG. FlashGaming squad and ViCi started looking for new teammates for zhokiNg and Freeman, eventually, ViCi settled for advent as their IGL, auman and Kaze. ViCi gaming are coming to the Main Qualifier from the Asian Minor, where they managed to reach the third spot, which saw them advance to the Minors’ 3rd Place Play-In, where they won their first BO1 match against North and lost the next to the Winstrike Team. This meant ViCi were going into the “losers final”, where they managed to beat North 2-0 in a BO3 match. They are priced around 100 on Pinnacle to win the tournament, which is a fair price, as the chances of the winning are as slim as they get. ViCi might have a chance to win an odd match against lower ranked teams on Inferno (one of the maps these lower ranked Chinese teams are usually good at, as it is a pretty common map in their region).

Fnatic are currently the number one seed at the Main Qualifier, priced around 20.00 on Pinnacle to win the Major in Katowice. Just like BIG, they can be considered as one of the dark horses to win the tournament, a great mix of old experienced players (JW and Krimz) along with two new exciting prospects (Brollan and twist), the only concern for me is their IGL, Xizt. While he was without a doubt a decent IGL in the early CSGO scene, he failed to impress me for quite a while. That is why I believe he is the weakest link in the Fnatic squad. There were no roster changes in Fnatic for quite a while. We did not see any roster changes since they added brollan to their roster in October, while removing their stand-in player Scream from their active lineup. The last LAN tournament Fnatic attended was iBUYPOWER Masters 2019, which was a tournament filled with technical problems and long delays. That is why some analysts are not putting too much emphasis on results from this tournament. In the tournament, Fnatic played a total of five matches. They lost the first match against Cloud9, then they won against Cloud9 and Complexity, while losing 2-1 in BO3 match against team Liquid in the semifinals, the eventual champions of the tournament. As for Online matches, they haven’t played any official matches since November 2018.

Unless Xizt somehow messes up the map pick/bans, this should be a pretty easy match for Fnatic. They are better than ViCi in all positions and Fnatic should be able to cover the spread against them. We recommend a bet on Fnatic!
