After the US Open, the PGA Tour is back with the Travelers Championship 2017. The last year’s tournament was played in August due to the Summer Olympics, but in 2017 the tournament has returned to its normal schedule and will be played in June. The golf course is located in Cromwell, Conn, and it is currently Connecticut’s only PGA TOUR’s event. The current top three bookies favourites are Jordan Spieth at the odds of 10.5, Rory McIlroy at 11.5 and Justin Thomas as the odds of 16.00. Below you can find three players we are fond of at this tournament.
As he has shown at The Masters Tournament 2017(Augusta course), Bubba is a type of player who performs well on a golf course he likes, regardless of his current form. He has missed three of his last five cuts and he may not be in his bets form, but he is worth a bet at the current odds. Since 2008, his scoring average at this course is 67.19. He already won twice here: 2010 and 2015. He is slowly coming into form(T5 at Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T6 at Memorial and T9 at World Golf Championship) and could manage to win at this golf course again! I recommend a bet on Bubba Watson to finish in Top 20.
Prediction: Bubba Watson Top 20 Finish
Stake: 1 unit at the odds of 2.92 (Betfair)
With the results like the third place in 2013 and the fourth place in 2015, it looks like the 35 years old Canadian, Graham DeLaet, is also a fan of this course. He is available at the decent odds of 55 to win the whole event. Although he has a total of 31 top 10 finishes, he is still without a win, but this could change at a course he is fond of. We recommend a bet on Graham DeLaet to finish in the top 20.
Prediction: Graham Delaet Top 20 Finish
Stake: 1 unit at the odds of 3.1 (Betfair)
Our last prediction for the Travelers Championship is Brandan Steele to win outright. In the last four years, he has four top 25 finishes, including a T5 in 2014. He played well last week at US Open and managed a T13 finish, which was his career-best at the majors. He is in good form this season, he already managed to win at the Safeway Open and has seven top 20 finishes this season. We recommend an outright bet on Brandan Steele to win this tournament!
Prediction: Brendan Steele to Win
Stake: 0.5 unit at the odds of 38.00 (Betfair)
It is also worth mentioning that two of bookies favourites, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth will be making their debuts at this course. Anyway, that’s all for this tournament. Good luck!
