Premier League

January 18 2016, Liberty Stadium, 19:00 GMT+0

In the last match in 22 round of Premier League Watford will travel to Liberty Stadium, where they will face off with Swansea.

Swansea is in terrible form, and the atmosphere in the club isn’t good as a result of that. Last season Swansea achieved great result with 8th place, but this season is nothing like the last, as the table shows, 18th place with 19 points is their current position, and they need 3 points to get out of relegation zone.

The guests are coming from 3 back to back losses against Sunderland (2:4), Man Utd (2:1) and Oxford Utd (3:2) in FA cup, that only worsened the atmosphere in the club . In a match against Sunderland Kyle Naughton was sent off in 37 minute with a red card, but FA decided he was sent off wrongfully, so they rescinded the red card and he will be able to play today, Swansea being without injuries they will have a full squad available today.

The visitors are 10 points ahead of today’s opponents, on 12th place. Their last 3 games were terrible for them, with 3 consecutive losses against Southampton (2.0), Man City (1:2) and Tottenham (1:2), but we need to take into consideration that the results against Man City and Tottenham were determined in the last minutes, when Man City scored 2 goals in 82′ and 84′. The game against Tottenham had a similar finish, with a goal in 89′ that took a point from Watford, whereas they still played well without Ake N. who was sent off in 63′.

Watford, the last season promoted team is showing they belong in this league with great performances on the road, actually they have been loosing only to top league teams; Southampton (2:0), Leicester (2:1) and a draw against Chelsea proves they are a competitive side in this league.
Compared to Swansea injury free team, Watford will be missing Ekstrand, Doyley and Hoban, but being neither of them is in a starting IX, their absence won’t effect the team.
In conclusion I see Watford as a team with a slight advantage due to Swansea’s new manager and lack of confidence by Swansea players, also the Hornets have shown they are a competitive side with some great performances. I choose +0.25 on Watford, as the draw is still an option.

Prediction: Watford +0.25
