Premier League

January 13, Liberty Stadium, 19:45 GMT+0

Neither of the teams are a top table competitors, Swansea being on 17th place, and the visitors Sunderland is currently standing at 19th place.

Swansea started this season very well, and it looked like they will compete for top places on the table after winning against Man Utd and drawed against Chelsea, but soon everything went downhill for them. Their current record is 2 wins in the last 18 matches. This weekend they were also knocked out of FA cup by Oxford United, a league 2 team. So is’t safe to say Swansea has seen brighter days.

Swansea has sold Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle this transfer window, other than that there are no absentees.

Looking at today visitors, they are not in a good position neither. 19th place means they need to start showing good performances, if they do not want to fall down in second league next season.

Sunderland is coming from a loss against Arsenal (3:1) and the loss is not surprising, as Arsenal is one of the strongest sides this season. Other than that Sunderland has shown they are a competitive side with recent wins against Aston Villa (3:1), Stoke City (2:0), Crystal Palace (0:1) and Newcastle (3:0)

Sunderland has used this winter transfer window to buy Jan Kirchhof for £750,000, and he might start today’s match. Vito Mannone, Yann M’Vila, Fabio Borini and Jermain Defoe are all expected to return on the pitch today, whereas Younes Kaboul, jack Rodwell and Seb Larsson will stay sidelined.

All in all Swansea has low self esteem with the terrible loosing streak they are experiencing, and even though they play at home I see Sunderland a slight favourites in this matchup. With +0.5 on Sunderland we can cover draw. Taking all that into account the bookmakers are offering great odds.

Prediction: Sunderland +0.5
Odds: 2.04 PINNACLE
