In the last match for Newcastle it all seemed as they will get home with 1 point, until Xherdan Shaqiri scored a spectacular long distance goal in 80′ for Stoke. The match then ended in Stoke favour (1:0). Even though they were a goal behind, Newcastle were desperate to score a goal and it almost happened in 90′ with a opportunity from Doumbia but the Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland stopped an excellent attempt.

That defeat means Newcastle has suffered their 4th defeat in last 5 matches and are still in relegation zone. There is no doubt they need to improve, as the point difference from last 4 teams and 16th placed Swansea is slowly increasing, and it is now at 6 points. But we must not judge too fast, as there are 11 matches to go and everything can happen.

Looking at home matches for Newcastle, they won last 2 fixtures against West Ham (2:1) and West Brom (1:0) so it seems they perform better at home and it just might give them an edge today.

Cisse, Tiote and Townsend are all doubtful for home side, whereas Coloccini, Mbemba, Krul, Obertan, Haidara and Mbabu are all sidelined. The biggest problem might be absence of Collocini and Mbemba who are one of the key defenders.

Bournemouth is 8 points clear of relegation zone, after a draw against Watford (0:0) and a win against Southampton (2:0). Despite that their away record shows only 1 win in the last 5, whereas Newcastle has only 1 defeat in the last 5 at home.

Bournemouth has a problems with missing players Harry After and Joshua King due to calf problems, Junior Stanislas is also sidelined due to hamstring problem and Callum Wilson as well as Tyrone Mings are still on the list of missing players.

In conclusion, Newcastle has won the reverse fixture (0:1) and are clearly better at home compared to road games. Comparing these two teams, Newcastle seems as a favourite in my eyes, but i would like to secure a draw.
