New York Knicks v Detroit Pistons – NBA Betting Preview

New York Knicks have started this season the worst possible way, losing their 1st game of the season, which is their 6th consecutive defeat, if we include the pre-season matches. Looking at their last match, they faced off against Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena, where they were outclassed. The teams went into the 2nd half with Oklahoma already 11 points ahead. 3rd and 4th quarter continued in a similar fashion, with Oklahoma taking the 3rd quarter with 26:17 and 4th with 26:25. The final score was 105:84 for the home side with Porzingis as a top scorer (31pts), followed by George (28pts) and Anthony (22pts). Knicks did play well in the 1st and 4th quarter, but the lack of talent showed in 2nd and 3rd quarter, where Thunder accumulated the most points.

Detroit Pistons have got 2 games in this season behind them, with 1 win over Hornets and a defeat against Wizards. Looking at the opening match against Hornets, Pistons arguably won due to great performance in the 2nd quarter when they outscored Charlotte by 9 points. By the end of the 1st half, Pistons were already 11 points ahead, which proven to be too big of a margin to come back from for the visiting team. Detroit performance in that match was decent, however, they failed to win against Washington Wizards in their 2nd game of the season. The match started off great for Pistons, who were leading by 7 points by the end of 1st half. The 3rd quarter, however, was a completely different story. Wizards not only managed to close the gap but also got a 10 point lead before going into the last 12 minutes. It was the 3rd quarter which sunk the Pistons and prevented them to go 2-0.

Verdict & Prediction

Detroit Pistons seemed to have found their rhythm, with all players contributing to the scoring. They did lose their last match, but they were very competitive against an arguably better team. Playing against Knicks should not cause many problems, despite being back-to-back game. But it’s the start of the season so this will not affect the team that much. Bet on Pistons to defeat Knicks, who simply don’t have enough talent to compete against top half teams.
