Juventus v Inter Milan - Serie A

Today we will see 2 Italian giants facing off against each other in the 15th round of Serie A, at Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Juventus is currently still undefeated in Serie A, with an overall record of 13-1-0, their only draw came from a match against Genoa on 20th of October which was a surprising result, to say the least. Nonetheless, Juventus is still a dominant force in the Italian 1st division, with 31 goals scored and only 8 conceded in the span of 14 games they played. Looking at their most recent match against Fiorentina, Juventus dominated the 1st half in possession (61%), however, they did not have as many shots on target (2) as Fiorentina, who had 3. Still, that does not matter as much, if you are able to convert half of the shots into a goal, and that is exactly what Juventus did. They scored the opener in the 31st minute, which was also the only goal in the first half. The second half was closer in possession, with Juventus still having the ball at their feet for slightly more time (53%). Both teams had a total of 4 shots on goal, but it was again Juventus who scored a goal in the 69th minute, which put the match out of reach for Fiorentina, who needed to score 2 goals in 20 minutes only to get a point. Instead, it was Juventus who scored another goal in 79′, only this time from a penalty kick which was flawlessly executed by Ronaldo, who earned himself a yellow card for celebrating “too much” for a lack of a better word. This was his 10th goal in the last 11 matches, which puts him on the top spot of the best scorers in 2018/19 season of Serie A, and I believe he will not stop now. Final score: 0:3

Inter Milan are currently 3rd in the league, 11 points behind the leading Juventus, with an overall record of 9-2-3 and 4-1-2 in away matches. Looking at Inter last 5 matches, they have won 3, draw 1 and lost 1. The loss was quite surprising, as they were completely dominated by Atlanta (4:1) in a match we all expected to go the other way. In their most recent match, Inter has played a draw against Roma, who are currently 7th in the league. The mentioned match saw it’s the first goal in 37th minute when Keita scored for Inter. Although we saw a total of 8 shots on goal from both sides, this was the only goal in the first 45 minutes. It was a quite disappointing half for Roma who was extremely close to scoring a goal on several occasions and even got robbed of a penalty. The second half saw Inter with 65% ball possession, but fewer attempts on goal than Roma. Still, the match continued in a similar fashion as the first half, with plenty of opportunities and great attempts from both sides. In 51st minute we saw a stunning goal from Cengiz Under which left Handanovic helpless. The euphoria of Roma soon came to an end, when Inter responded with a goal of their own from a corner kick in 66th minute. In the 74th minute, with some help from VAR Roma was awarded a penalty and it was Kolarov who salvaged a point for Roma with a goal. The match was really entertaining to watch, and the final result was a fair representation from what we have seen from the teams. Final score: 2:2.

The last time these two teams met was on the 28th of April in a high scoring match (2:3), which was in the end won by Juventus. Looking at how Juventus performs at home, they are holding a 6-1-0 record with 15 goals scored and 4 conceded in the 7 games they played. Inter, on the other hand, holds a 4-1-2 record in away games, however, they have not won an away match in the last 2 games. In their recent 2 games, Inter has suffered a high defeat against Atlanta (4:1) and drew their last match against Roma (2:2). In total, Inter scored 12 goals and conceded 8 in their 7 away games (9:7 in the last 5 games). They know how to attack, however, I am not satisfied with their defence. Juventus, on the other hand, has a strong attack, but tend to let unnecessary goals in home matches. I don’t believe this match will end with a low final score, both teams have potent strikers and have scored combined 26 goals in the last 5 games.

Prediction: Over 2.25 goals
