DORTMUND v TOTTENHAM – EUROPA LEAGUE
March 10 2016, Signal Iduna Park, 18:00 GMT+0
This is a match between 2 teams that are secon in their domestic league, Dortmund from Bundesliga will host Tottenham from EPL.
Borussia are 5 points off league leaders Bayern, but have managed to create a huge gap between them and 3rd placed Herta Berlin, and with only 9 matches remaining in Bundesliga it seems almost impossible for Borussia to fall to 3rd place.
Last match for Borussia ended in a draw (0:0) against mighty Bayern Műnich at the weekend. Looking at possession in that match, Borussia was clearly dominated (38%-62%), but then again, it’s not a big surprise, that Pep Guardiola’s team focuses on possession. Scoring opportunities wise, it was a balanced match and the result showed that. Tomas Tuchel can be happy with the way his team performs, as they have not yet suffered a defeat this year.
In the last leg of Europa League, Dortmund knocked out Porto, winning both matches (3:0)
Tottenham managed to be second in EPL, but I believe it’s not that much of a case they are that good, but I tend to believe the good position is a result due to bad performances by other teams this season. Tottenham had a great opportunity to be on the top of the league, but failed to win last 3 matches played. The last one, when Arsenal visited Tottenham resulted in a really bad performance by the home side in my opinion. Tottenham had a goal and player advantage since 62′ but still conceived a goal in 76′, which resulted in only 1 point for both sides. Arsenal clearly outplayed Tottenham and if they wouldn’t have only 10 men on the pitch we could expect Arsenal to take home all 3 points.
Looking at missing players, the hosts will only miss Papasthathopoulos, whereas the English team will travel to Germany without Dele Ali, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Jen Vertonghen and Clinton N’Jie.
I believe that Dortmund comes out of this match up as a superior team in my eyes.
Prediction: Dortmund -1
Odds: 1.90 Pinnacle
