Denver Broncos v Carolina Panthers – NFL

Denver Broncos v Carolina Panthers

The NFL is finally back with the rematch of last year’s Super Bowl between Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Teams will meet in Denver, at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Denver Broncos

Denver has lost one their key players from last season, Peyton Manning. Although there was a significant drop-off in his skills, he was a crucial player in Denver’s run to a title. The also lost Malik Jackson to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Danny Trevathan to the Chicago Bears. Denver will be able to field their new arrival Trevor Siemian, who will become the first QB in NFL history to start in the season opener for the defending Super Bowl champion without a single NFL pass. They were also able to select Paxton Lynch by moving up five spots in the draft through a trade with the Seattle Seahawks that gave them Denver’s first round pick and a third round pick,  Justin Simmons. If Broncos can find a consistent starter at the quarterback, they can surely make another run at the Super Bowl.

Carolina Panthers

Nobody was expecting that the Panthers will go all the way to the Super Bowl, especially after Kelvin Benjamin’s knee injury at the preseason training camp. But somehow they managed to surprise us all, winning 15 matches and losing only to the Atlanta Falcons in the round 16. In the playoffs they managed to beat Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, but they were humiliated by Denver at the Super Bowl.

The Panthers have lost their star cornerback Josh Norman to the Washington Redskins. They failed to reach a long term deal with their star, so he instead took a huge payday of $75M over 5 years at the Redskins. Charles Tillman has retired and Roman Harper is off to the New Orleans Saints. They managed to draft James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Vernon Butler. They also acquired DT Paul Soliai from Atlanta Falcons.

In the preseason this year, they managed to beat Tennessee Titans(16:26) and Pittsburgh Steelers(18:6), but they have lost against Baltimore Ravens(22:19) and New England Patriots(17:19).

Just like the previous season, they have a strong defence with the players like Thomas Davis, Kawann Short, Luke Kuechly,… If they can keep these players fit and healthy, this defence will once again win a lot of games for them.

If Broncos can keep their concentration on point, they can certainly win this match. With the home-field advantage and the odds over 2.40 there is clearly some value on Denver.
