Conor McGregor v Nate Diaz – UFC 202

UFC 202

Long awaited rematch between two of the best lightweight fighter is upon us. With all the hype around this fight, all the trash-talk, pre-match videos etc. both of the fighters already made enough money to feed a 3rd world country. All jokes aside, it’s a fight you SHOULDN’T miss at the upcoming UFC 202.

Diaz choke KO in the second round of UFC 196 in March left a huge dent in Irishman’s unbeatable image. Despite image of “The Notorious one” being damaged, it only helped him, as he seems to be laser-focused for the upcoming match, to get his revenge against Diaz at UFC 202 on 20th August.

There were a lot of speculations, will it not or will it happen, and we have got an answer on our hands. McGregor will fight Diaz in the upcoming UFC event. It is one of the most anticipated fights of the year, and we can surely expect a good fight. One of the main reasons, this fight was under the question was Twitter post from McGregor, that he is retiring.

But soon that turned out not to be true. McGregor stated, that he is not paid to promote, but to fight. In a long Facebook post he explained, that all the press conferences, interviews, world tours etc. only distracted him from the thing, that really matters, training and preparing for the fight. Whereas Dana White insists, he has good relationship with McGregor, he still does not agree with his way of thinking. In words of White, every fighter is expected to promote his or her event. So McGregor’s unwillingness to do so seems weird for him.

“With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight,” he wrote. “I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.“I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment. But it was denied. “There had been $10m allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me. So as a gesture of goodwill, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them. “Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good. I must isolate myself now. I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.”

This fight can’t be kept a secret, so even some other fighters in UFC have their own opinion on the fight. New UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor will win his upcoming rematch against Nate Diaz, because he believes McGregor is on top of his game. McGregor was not shy, when asked about his thoughts, he stated: “If I was to make a prediction, which I will right now — I believe I will repay the favour and KO him inside the second round.”

I believe McGregor will not have an easier time compared to the last fight. He might trained a lot, but Diaz was not at home sitting in front of TV and eating doughnuts neither. The main thing I see will harm McGregor is that Diaz is bigger and can take a lot of punches. I am not counting out “the Notorious One” getting a win, but we can expect McGregor to pick-n-choose his punches, which will only slow the fight down. This will work in Diaz favour, as if McGregor wants to win, he will have to do so in the first 2 round. If he fails to do so, Diaz will surely win once again.

Prediction : Nate Diaz to Win
